Analysis of CaptainCapitalism.com
Captain Capitalism is Uncle Sam's right hand man as he promotes the power of the dollar while "saving the world from intergalactic communism." With an American Flag as a backdrop, the cartoon hero Captain Capitalism provides users with videos, blogs, information on the field of animation and access to the store to keep capitalism flowing. A finalist in the 2006 South-by-Southwest Festival's interactive web awards under the amusement category, Captain Capitalism is a home for capitalism satire to make the online world a little more fun.
My analysis will focus on six key aspects of the site: typography, theme, multimedia, audience, color and accessibility. In examining Captain Capitalism's web site structure, functionality and message, I will pull from ideas using Making the Invisible Visible (Hillman Curtis), and the Web Style Guide, 2nd Edition (Patrick J. Lynch and Sarah Horton). I have created six additional pages, with links at the top of the page, that may be viewed in any order. At the bottom of the page, links are provided to my CMS 3710 home page and the CMS 3710 class page.
