Richard Williams' CMS 3710 Home Page

This is the home page for my work in CMS 3710, a class offered during the fall 2008 semester at Clayton State University, in Morrow, Georgia, USA.

Web Site Analysis

My most visited webpage is www.rollernews.com.
This page is more of an entertainment site rather than a news page. A multimedia page would better define rollernews.com. Flash, Quicktime videos, and picture posts are made each day, with the most recent story or article at the top and center of the site. Each article or story has a either a hyper or flash-based link that connects to an external site. Also, each multimedia entry has a space for bidirectionalism between the user and the site’s moderator, David Durrenberger. The “add comment” link is placed at the end of each entry so then each individual user can post their own links, feelings or comments.
Since rollernews.com is a “what’s new” webpage, as defined by the Web Style Guide, the vertical scrolling becomes quite necessary since all stories and articles are dated and user generated, so the user can tell if the news is actually news. The website is very neutral in appearance as far as the color goes. A light grey background gives the site a more understandable look. The background is actually a grey JPEG file 100x100. The page header is very distinct, allowing any user to quickly determine what the website is all about. The text is typed in an online reading format, in order for the user to read and decipher more easily the message that rollernews.com is attempting to convey.

Hyperlinks are things most used on this page, since the news is user generated.
