Page Design of Designmyroom.com
Page Layout/Consistency
Designmyroom.com page layouts are consistent on each page. The layout is visually pleasing to the eye. Each page uses the same colors and format. On the left side of each page is a list of household categories, in the middle are text and images and advertisements for furniture companies are on the right side. While browsing the site it was easy for me to locate items and return to the home page. Horton and Lynch emphasize the theory of consistent style sheet positioning to heighten visual pleasure and legibility (Page Layout).

Color
According to Curtis text Making the Invisible Visible, color can increase the speed of comprehension for the viewer, establish character and produce instantaneous associations that are more easily recalled (150). Designmyroom.com use of color reflects Curtis' theory. Green and white are two of the main colors the site uses. Considering green is a cool color, users receive a relaxing visual message. Designing a room can be a difficult task. However, the use of cool colors elicits tranquility.
On each page the headers have white bold text with a green background. Most of the links are green as well with a white background. While hovering over links the color changes to a light reddish pink which compliments the color green. I believe this is a great color selection because I feel at ease while viewing the site.
Header and Footer
The community theme header is consistent on each page. Each header labels the page in bold white text with a green background. The designmyroom logo is above each header on the left side. The green background on each page slightly differs. On the community page the background has a group of people facing the same direction. This header functions to make viewers feel like they are apart of a community striving for the same goal. The Start a New Project and Products header have a green background with white stars. These headers define the theme of the site which is community. Footers are relatively the same on each page as well. An advertisement for different furniture or household companies serves as the footer.
