Designmyroom.com uses many still images and text. Considering this is a designers' website images are used more than text. When accessing the Start My Project page, it takes more than 30 seconds for the design boards to load. Once they load a sequence of different household images appears at the bottom of the screen. The images are organized in categories such as appliances, art, ceilings, and countertops as shown below.
Once the user selects which category to design another category of images appear. Just in case the pictures do not load there is a drop down menu box listing the categories as well. While manipulating an image on the design board, a list of categories products, favorites, inspiration and shopping remain at the bottom of the page in a tab style.
On the right side of the design board there are a list of icons that assist users in manipulating images. If users hover over these icons it will display the function of each icon. These icons make it easy for users to see what they are doing.
