Site design theme Analysis of HL2.com
The site's basic information structure is primarily hierarchal but contains web like elements. The site's unique hierarchal approach forfeits the need for a stereotypical home page and opens directly into the menu. The first menu choices are simple and few, to emphasize the simplicity of the site. The initially general choices the user is given to begin: "Discover," "Creative" and "Process," all hover around a black and white rendering of a human heart. From these general choices you are given ever increasingly specific information. When the user clicks on "Discover" they are given four more options including "Contact," "Jobs," "Bio" and "Client list." When the user clicks on "Creative" they are given another four choices including "Campaign," "Ink," "Pixels" and "Featured." When the user clicks on "Process" they are given the three choices of "Seattle's Best Coffee," "Microsoft" and "TaxCut." From each of those choices the user is given a series of very specific text, images or videos that further explain what HL2.com does. The chunking of this hierarchal organization is logical and easy to use.
