Graphisc Analysis of HL2.com
The simplicity of the vector graphics is attractive and clean. The "Process" section of the site boasts some very fast paced mechanical wheels and pulleys as well as some charismatic robots. The small dancing and winking robot on the left side of this graphic is the same robot in the background of these web analysis project pages.
In the "Discovery" section of this site the images are aquatic. Swaying coral, floating sea horses and fanciful ocean people can be found surrounding the bios, client list, jobs and contact navigational links of the site.
Finaly the "Creative" section's graphics include waving grasses, vines and leaves; a running wild cat and a small winged creature with large eyes and antennas. All of this surrounds the campaign, featured, pixels and ink navigational links.
All of the graphics are black and white with the exception of blue, green or orange squares and plus signs. Color coded command buttons can be found deeper within the menu.
A similarity between HL2.com's graphics and printed images is the simplicity of colors. Printed magazine images are usually made of four colors, cyan, magenta, yellow and black (web style guide). HL2 only has three colors. Differences between them include transilluminated computer screens versus the top lit opaque printed paper. Transilluminated graphics have a greater contrast range and color intensity.
