Based in Edinburgh, Scotland, the Touch Agency has created websites for ten years. The site displays their creative aspect by demonstrating contrast with brightly colored materials spread across a dark hardwood floor. Their information remains to the side of the site in a column containing a description of their work and links to access it. The layout is simple yet creative and easy to maneuver.

A graphic artist M. C. Escher created many pieces that looked to defy reality. Working in the 18th Century he made many pieces that tricked the viewer into seeing one thing initially and something different after a brief study of the image. This image, a lithograph, “Hand with Reflecting Sphere” is a self-portrait of the artist. His abstract image and the uniqueness of the piece give it life and playfulness.

The art of basket weaving is practiced mostly by Native Americans. I witnessed the art of basket weaving as a young girl in Hawaii. Often the materials remain their natural color but the materials can be dyed to create patterns within the basket. This form of art is one of the oldest forms around and still widely practiced. Through the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts children are exposed to this art and encouraged to practice traditional arts.

Lucinda Bunnen's photograph uses a very small part portion of a pond and represents the shapes found within nature. This picture interests me because if not for its title, “Hatcher's Pond”, the viewer could not know what the subject is. Bunnen focuses on the simplicity of the pond to create an image that causes the viewer to think about what s/he is witnessing. This photograph encourages me to look deeper into my subject, whether a pond or a person, to find an aspect that has yet to be explored.

A bronze and mixed media sculptor, she mainly molds dogs. She uses different material to cover the dog like watches, figurines, coins, mirror, or other small mediums. Each piece is unique and covered from nose to tail. Engel studies dogs and captures their demeanor in the statues. Each sculpture stands or sits like an actual dog would. The dogs are often personalized with the buyers own material. Because Engel focused on two things she has a passion for, dogs and sculpting, she is able to create and relate her pieces to viewer.

This site contains photographs by Alberto Oviedo. He was raised in Colombia and moved to the United States to begin a career in photography. He graduated from the Atlanta Art Institute and began working along a photographer and building up clients like Cingular Wireless, GM, and Rolling Stone S.A. The site doesn’t distract the user from the photography. Photographs are displayed in galleries horizontally. Links at the bottom of the page lead to 8 different galleries with his work. He uses different angles and bold colors in most of his photos, often enhancing them with Photoshop.

Jodi Picoult is a current fiction novelist. Her novels stem from social issues of modern America relating to everyday people. Picoult desires to create a novel that will assist in peoples understanding and handling of difficult situations. Because she confronts societal issues in the form of a fictional novel, she reaches a wider range of people, people that may not have any other method of becoming informed on the issues. I respect her novels because they deal with situations and circumstances that I will run into in my future. Through her novels I gain a better comprehension of current concerns in today's society.
