Absolut Ad

This webpage offers hundreds of advertising layouts for the Swedish Vodka Absolut. The Absolut Gallery link at the top page directs viewers to its advertisements. They are alphabetically arranged from Absolut A La Carte to Absolut Zest. A variety of links are available that connect viewers to more different advertisements of Absolut Vodka. Absolut advertising is an inspiration to me because the ad speaks through images rather than through text.

Sex & Design

design

The title describes this page best. What stands out to me as a designer are the colors and the cliche saying 'sex sells'. The way women are portrayed in society are in this manner. To get attention they need to be slim, fit, sexy, showing some skin, and be colorful. The description just mentioned advocates the cliche saying. The colors used in this layout scream at viewers and attracts their attention to the page. The pattern is unique. It is abstract, which is the layout design that inspires me in my field of art.

Hands

Hands was Jewels first single released on her second album, Spirit. The video begins with Jewel driving on a rainy night. She is distracted by people running over to a burning building. The song explains that only kindness matters. Kindness is shown when people save a man buried in debris and children trapped in a room. 'Hands' is an inspirational song I listen to when I need uplifting and reassurance. The beginning of the song "If I could tell the world just one thing, it would be we're all OK". The first lines speak to me in a way I cannot explain, which is why the lyrics to this song are inspirational.

Mission Trip

mission

This photo was taken in Gatlinberg, Tennesse. I was on a mission trip with Ephesus Baptist Church. We traveled the south east of the United States ministering to homeless and the everyday person walking down the street. I am speaking to two locals from Gatlinberg about Christianity. When I look at this picture, it reminds me of my religion and how special that day and trip are to me.

Spiderman

spiderman

These two computer-generated images of Kirsten Dunst and Tobey Maguire are from the film title for Spiderman. I found these images in Philip B. Meggs and Alston W. Purvis' book, Meggs History of Graphic Design. I admire the use of both real life image and graphic image. They both use the design of lines and foreshadowing. When both designs are put together they connect diagonally. The spider bite turns him into Spiderman and MJ (Kirsten Dunst) sees Peter (Tobey Maguire) as himself and not 'Spiderman'.

Diamonds

This poster from AIGA can also be found in Philip B. Meggs and Alston W. Purvis' book, Meggs History of Graphic Design was designed for nine design studios in San Francisco. The photograph of the of the tearful fasion model was taken by Swiss photographer Robert Schlatter. The numbers inside of the diamonds illustraste the quailty of the studios work. This layout reminds me of myself when I am designing, because it is different yet it makes perfect sense.
