The Story of Stuff site is an informational, interactive website dedicated to showing society's production and consumption patterns. It was created by Annie Leonard, and designed by Free Range Studios in an effort to reveal the underside of society's production and consumption patterns and to call for people to spread the word and to participate in sustaining the environment. The site was sponsored by Tides Foundation and Funders Workgroup for Sustainable Production and Consumption.
The audience for The Story of Stuff site is any person who is either interested in or who can be influenced to secure an interest in sustaining the environment. The title of the site is effective in drawing this type of audience due to its ambiguity; The Story of Stuff makes the audience curious to discover exactly what the word "stuff" is referring to.
