Web Analysis of Facebook
Facebook.com was founded on February 4, 2004 and is a social networking site. "Facebook offers its user's the power to share and makes the world more open and connected" (Facebook). People use this site to keep in touch with friends and coworkers, upload pictures, toy with applications, and express themselves to the world.
I have been an avid user of Facebook for about two years in which its popularity has grown. It is now the top networking site along with MySpace. During the early years of Facebook you could not become a member unless you were a part of a designated network such as a college or university. Now anyone can become a member with a valid email address. This web site has its perks along with its downside, which I will be analyzing by looking at Facebook's site structure, theme, color scheme, graphics, target audience, typography and site elements. I will be using Hilman Curtis's Making The Invisible Visible: Process, Inspiration and Practice for the New Media Designer, Patrick Lynch and Sarah Horton's Web Style Guide to critique Facebook.
