Debra Brown's Project 2 Graphics

Graphics File Formats

The Graphic file formats of the lay out main points such as the screen scene using light colors to enable the pages to showcase its promotional message. The site collaboratively uses 3D graphics via games, videos, and audio. The advantages of using JPEG images is how it produces excellent image results for the better photo graphics and complex imagery (web style guide). The colors of blue, red, green, and yellows, used on the site are simple colors and less distracting. Colors in the commerical world, especially on the Web page, a would-be client or customer can't touch or feel the product or service, can't smell it, and certainly can't taste it. So the visual message has to suffice, and that is where color really delivers (Curtis, 147). The colors are used sparingly on a worldwithoutoil.org Web site which produces successful Web pages. Imaging Strategies

The site uses low resolution on its Web pages while the pages reflects sensitivity to its users. According to Horton and Lynch in the web style guide, if you save only the final JPEGs, the work of the site will no longer have images without compression artifacts, and recompressing an image that has JPEG compression noise usually yields poor results (Imaging Strategies). Using darker and richer colors on Web pages are becoming increasingly; however, wwo.org site uses lighter colors and still remain one of the top finalists moreso for its imaging strategies and its them which keeps its users coming back again and again to this popular site.

Color Displays

Worldwithoutoil.org color lay out is to be applauded. What I found most interesting is how the displays of lighter colors drew a physical reaction while strolling through the site. The designers' choice of using lighter colors in the background of the site helped to make the Web pages easier to read. Users generally associate colors with what they are familiar with such as. In our class text, Making the Invisible Visible by Hillman Curtis, he calls this phenomenal Psychological Response. Curtis asserts that often the visual message is all there-language, images, and colors, so the visual message has to suffice and that is where color really delivers (147). Choosing wrong color choices can present ineffective or insufficient Web pages (Color Displays).
